Wendy Klingensmith’s vast experience with WK Smith Interiors—in collaboration with high-end high-rise condominium developers and builders—has given her invaluable knowledge of the structure and mechanical systems as well as the code and spatial challenges that come with designing luxury high-rise condominiums. She enjoys working on these projects to create specialized spaces for her clients in an otherwise cookie-cutter setting.
Wendy calls on 25 years of professional experience designing and working on homes throughout the United States to ensure her clients achieve their design goals and create their ideal spaces in a place that truly feels like home.
After completing her studies in architecture, art history and color theory and earning a degree in interior design and business, Wendy began her career as a Senior Designer with an esteemed interior design firm in Naples, Florida.
Later, while living in New York, she continued on as Senior Designer for a prestigious, specialty, interior design firm in Greenwich, Connecticut, as well as a Senior Kitchen Designer before opening her own design firm focusing on luxury, residential homes and high-rise condominium projects.
Wendy’s vast portfolio spans regional aesthetics and highlights diverse architectural styles that include, among others, a lodge in Vail, CO, a Mizner revival estate in Florida, both traditional and contemporary homes in Palm Beach, a private island residence in Maine, a high-rise penthouse in Texas and a multitude of classic and contemporary condominiums and homes in Florida, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
A love of art, paired with a keen architectural design sense underpin all of her projects.
“I am constantly interpreting the world around me through a designer’s eyes,” says Wendy. “I go to restaurants for the interior design—not the food. I focus on the sets in films and on TV and sometimes miss the show entirely.”
“My passion for design began from a very young age and I have never wavered in my desire to learn and create.”
Wendy lives with her husband and their young daughter in Naples, Florida, where she continues to explore her passions for design, art, fashion, architecture, travel and music.

Q & A
Fashion is one of your biggest inspirations, What’s your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
I dress for comfort and happiness. When I lived in New York, that meant beautiful scarves and jeans. Here in Florida, it’s hats and breezy dresses. A classic outfit with a great hat (or scarf) is perfection.
What is your morning ritual?
It’s a cozy one—but also half-relaxed/half-crazed. You’ll usually find me waking up with a big cuddle session in bed with my three-year-old daughter and husband. On the TV, the morning show. In hand, a giant coffee—I need a lot of caffeine at this age with a toddler!
What time of year inspires you most?
I’m big into all holidays, but Christmas and Halloween take the cake. I love decorating the house, the time together as a family and all the traditions. The holidays have a natural way of sparking love, energy and creativity.
Where are you originally from?
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and I’m still in love with that city. I’m a huge Browns fan and all Cleve sports are my thing.
Warm or cold weather—what’s your preference?
That’s a tough one. Being from the Midwest, I love fall. There’s nothing like the first snowfall of the year, it’s magical. But I do love sun, warmth and being able to enjoy the beach on a day-to-day basis. Maybe I’m best described as an after-the-first-snowbird. Do those exist?
Where is your favorite place you’ve traveled?
Venice, Italy. I love the history, the colorful and crusty buildings, the mysterious canals…and all those tiny and fabulous shops you stumble upon while exploring off the beaten path.
